Pictures since 2014 of all the friends that have made Crashpad Lodges a reality. Thank you to you all.
Josh and Lynsey found the beautiful old Welsh farmhouse named “Yr Helfa” in the heart of the Snowdonia National Park in 2014. It started as “that’s the dream” conversation after both spotting the property for sale in a doctors waiting room on the back page of a local newspaper. Josh was a keen climber, kayaker, skier, you name it he did it. A severe back pain which was becoming worse was the reason for our visit to the doctors. We found out that day Josh had a huge tumour growing at the base of his back which was crushing his spine. Very rare and treatable but would result in major surgery and no more of Josh’s beloved outdoor pursuits as his back would be too weak.
We decided walking out of the doctors that one way or another we would try and buy and renovate that old Welsh farmhouse. In doing so Josh could still be in his great outdoors and provide a goal to aim for during the upcoming months waiting for the surgery and the long recovery after.
Four business plans, two bank loans, 1 major operation and a move from the North East of England to North Wales, Crashpad Lodge ran from Yr Helfa opened.
The property has been extensively loved and renovated, powered by 100% off grid renewable energy. We provide comfortable accommodation in the most unique setting for up to 18 guests being only a 10-minute walk to the start of the LLanberis Path to climb Snowdon.
Crashpad Lodges provide the perfect opportunity for friends, families and groups to step out of the everyday. To spend time in the most serene of settings with one another, in the mountains, with nature, relaxing, having fun and making lasting memories.
Lynsey’s Top Tip – On a clear night look up to the sky – you will never have seen so many stars I promise!
Josh’s Top Tip – A stay at the lodge is not complete without a dip in the stream – watch out for the trout and salmon.
